A nationally recognized law firm specializing in insurance coverage and complex litigation is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to support its San Francisco office. This role provides high-level support to partners and associates handling sophisticated litigation and coverage matters nationwide. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple matters in a fast-paced legal environment.
* Assist attorneys with federal and state litigation matters, including preparing and filing pleadings, motions, briefs, notices, and subpoenas
* Maintain and monitor case dockets, deadlines, court orders, and litigation calendars for California state courts, federal courts, and bankruptcy courts
* Draft, format, and proofread correspondence, memoranda, affidavits, stipulations, declarations, and other litigation-related documents
* Manage document production and review, including organizing, labeling, indexing, and uploading discovery materials, exhibits, and trial binders
* Maintain electronic and hard-copy case files, ensure version control, and handle filings through e-filing systems and document management platforms
* Coordinate depositions, hearings, and trial logistics, including scheduling, noticing, and coordinating with court reporters, witnesses, and vendors
* Assist with preparation of materials and travel arrangements related to hearings and trial proceedings
* Provide additional litigation support for special projects, including appellate filings, litigation databases, training materials, and ad-hoc research
* Support billing and budget tracking for litigation matters, including preparing expense reports, monitoring budgets, and assisting with vendor invoices
* Communicate professionally with clients, courts, co-counsel, and vendors on routine matters, serving as a reliable point of contact for the legal team
* 3-4 years of litigation legal assistant or paralegal experience in a law firm environment
* Experience with insurance coverage litigation preferred but not required
* Strong familiarity with California state and federal court filing procedures, e-filing systems, docket management, and document formatting
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong proofreading ability and attention to detail
* Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with document management systems and e-filing portals preferred
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
* Associate's degree or paralegal certificate preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
